Saturday Morning Tempo Ride

This is a flat, moderately high intensity group road ride. Expect pace-lines of around 18-24 mph depending on conditions and who's in attendance.

We schedule this ride early on Saturday morning for those that want to get their ride done early and so that our shop employees can partake before we open up. Join us for just part of the ride if you want to use it as a kick-start to your own longer ride or do the whole thing if you need to use the rest of your weekend to get stuff done. This ride should be done within two and a half hours and certainly no more than three.

The course we will do today is Flat Tempo Ride on Farm Roads. This is a mostly flat farm route with just enough rises to keep it challenging to maintain pace.

This is a tempo ride. If you unfamiliar with a tempo ride, a great description of it is here. This is the ride to work on hard sustained efforts, not to make attacks that blow up the group. Please try to maintain the pace the group has settled into.

If you are unfamiliar with group ride etiquette (or even if you are familiar), review some basic tips here. There will be the occasional slow down for dropped riders but don't expect a full stop. Please know the course before showing up to this ride in case you need to find your way home on your own.

Lilly will be leading an intermediate paced ride on this day. If you want to start out with the fast group then fall back to the intermediate group that's a great way to push yourself. Please email (lillian.zbikes@gmail.com) her if you plan on attending this pace as she may do her own ride if attendance wanes.

Please bring water, flat kits and lights (remember: a helmet might reduce your chance of injury, but a rear blinky light will prevent a crash all-together). Also Make sure you know the route well enough to get home (farm roads are easy enough to find your way).
