How it Works

Looking to sell your gear? Read our guidelines below to get started!

How to get Started

  • Step 1: Bring in your gently used items. Please refer to our page on what we sell to get an idea if what you’re bringing in qualifies.

  • Step 2: We will price your items, merchandise/display them and sell them for you.

  • Step 3: Get paid. You can use your consignors portion as store credit with a bonus, as a check, or simply donate it to a charity that we work with.

Pricing, Fees, & Discounts

Our staff will price the items for you. Our pricing philosophy follows our mission: we want to be fair to our consignors, but also provide outdoor gear at a reasonable price. If you have a price your after, let us know and we will work with you the best we can.

  • Pricing guidelines:

    • Typical used gear starts roughly half of the MSRP (the value it would be priced at retail). It is then adjusted for Age, Condition, and Desireability.

    • It’s common for used gear to ultimately get priced at about a third of its original price.

    • For bigger ticket items, we research market prices on places like Ebay, Bicycle Blue Book, and other second hand outfits.

    • Bring in original receipts, owners manuals, and other items to make sure we can properly identify your gear.

    • Note that our mission is not to provide the best return on your gear. Selling private party on your own is the best way to maximize your return.

  • Consignor Fees

    • For items with a final sale value of under $200 - Consignor and Store split the purchase evenly.

    • For items with a final sale value equal to or over $200 - Consignor takes 70% of the sale, the Store takes 30%.

  • Discounts

    • All items have 3 months to sell at their full price. Items will be discounted each month subsequently until they are removed from sale and donated (or marked for pickup) at 6 months. Consignor and Store will split the discount (fees are calculated from the final sale price).

    • Surcharges will exist for items that excessively dirty or things they need significant work to get to a reasonable selling condition. This includes things like maintenance on bikes or cleaning on your gear. We will discuss these charges before putting your item for sale. We do not have a laundry facility and will simply decline unwashed apparel.

Payments and Store Credit

Once your gear sells, you get paid. Select one of three options to get your money back.

  • Get your money back as store credit with a 10% bonus! This will work in either the consignment store, or at Zach’s Bikes.

  • Get your money as a check. We will be issuing consignor checks once a week. You can check the status of your items at your consignor portal or opt in to email notifications.

  • Donate your portion to a charity we work with. This is the simplest option for you, and it benefits one of the many charitable causes we work with.
